Description
Mark was born in Radzyn, Poland, to Blanca and Sam Fogelgarn in 1934, and was described by everyone who knew him as bright and good-natured. His grandfather, Chaim-Yankel Sukolsky (Carving #645) was the brother of the artist's grandfather, Daniel Sukolsky. His mother, Blanca, was a Yiddish poet who survived the Lodz Ghetto, Auschwitz and Stutthof. His father Sam was a Partisan in Russia. Mark's parents were re-united after the war, and searched, in vain, for Mark, their only child.
